Merry Christmas!!
Snow sparkles on the ground this merry season as we work our way into the holiday frenzy. Christmas carols echo through the night preparing us for this lovely time of year. So here’s a cup of cheer for all the actors out there celebrating this Christmas season!

Looking back over this past year, what did you learn? The top 5 lessons I’ve learned from working on multiple sets this year are:

  1. Be ready for anything…
    • Memorize your lines and be prepared to change them. Often rewrites are being done to the script up until shooting begins. Be flexible with learning new lines. 🙂
  2. Come to set on time!
    • Movie sets sometimes run ahead of schedule and sometimes behind schedule, producers and directors are then forced to either delay a shoot, if certain actors are not there, or they must reallocate those lines. By being available your likelihood of losing a line decreases and/or gaining an extra line increases dramatically.
  3. You’re never “off” screen…
    • The moment you walk on set you are on screen. More times than we like to admit, the camera will be rolling even after the director calls cut. Those moments you think the camera will never see…are being recorded. Keep your “off screen” presence as professional as your “on screen” appearance.
  4. Your Facebook is a resume…
    • Casting directors look up your Facebook page. The photos you post are being used to evaluate your potential as a character in their film. You may consider having an album on Facebook that has your headshots and modeling photos.
  5. Be Genuine!
    • It’s great to be genuine on screen but honestly, it’s nice to talk with an actor who is “real.” Don’t pretend in real life to be someone you are not. Be real. Be yourself. Don’t exaggerate your skills as well as don’t undermine your abilities. Be humble yet confident. 🙂

Hope you all had an awesome year and learned a lot as well!!
