“Look me in the eye.”
Whether it is a photograph, a movie, or real life the most intriguing part of an individual is their eyes. Our eyes show joy, love, pain, and fear. In movies, it is especially important for actors to be able to portray the emotions of their character.
A character is someone without emotion, it’s just a name; but a person is someone with feelings. Being able to change your character into a person is a challenge and yet an opportunity to show your audience the depth of a story.
For actors, being able to portray the right emotion at the right time can be difficult and daunting. Learning how to cry on demand and laugh when nothing is funny is not alway easy. Rather it takes skill and endurance to keep trying.
One way to increase your facial expressions is to practice different looks in front of a mirror. Imagine what you would look like in different circumstances.
What do your eyes say?
